Favorites of 2007
I thought as the last entry of 2007 I might put together what I thought were some of my favorite photos of the last year. Out of approx. 277 photos, here are 16 of my favorites.
Chopped Corn Stalks - I originally planned this as a color image, but once I saw how it looked in black and white I had to keep the color out of it.
Still Reflection - I had been by this pond many times this year but only this time did it appear so I could get the reflection of the trees. I'm lucky it happened to be fall otherwise the trees wouldn't pop as much.
Senator Biden Speaks - One of the featured speakers at the Conference on World Affairs, Senator Joe Biden speaks to a packed crowd at Macky Auditorium on the CU-Boulder campus. This was taken in between the curtains that lead to the backstage.
Bricks in HDR - The Great Western Sugar Factory in Longmont has been a subject of a lot of my photos, but this one is one of my favorites in that in post processing I was able to give the building a desolated look.
Up Through the Center - I got this photo under a water tower near the sugar factory.
Tree in the Morning - I had gotten up early one morning and had been working on some music stuff and decided I would get my stuff together and head out to work a little early. On my way I noticed the cloud patterns just as the sun was coming up and thought this tree would make a good photo.
Dew in the Grass - I got up one morning and saw some dew on the grass outside so I grabbed the camera and the macro lens and got down on the ground and started shooting away.
Bugs for Breakfast - I had seen some Avocets out at Walden Ponds before but I really like how these two are at opposite ends of the frame.
She Has a Look in Her Eye - Melinda doesn't like her photo taken but she lets me get a few shots every now and then. This photo wasn't shot this year, but I did the processing on it this fall and I really like how it came out.
Out in the Wild - THis is one of my favorites because we almost lost Pinba this fall when he flew out the door. We used this photo on flyers that we put throughout the neighborhood and thankfully had him returned to us less than a week later.
Sprinkler and Dirt - I really was pleased with how this photo came out as a HDR photo but after revisiting the photo I found I like it even better with the additional post processing.
Yellow Headed Blackbird Displaying - This spring I would often go over to Sawhill or Walden Ponds on my way to work. One morning I was walking around and was pleased with myself for just getting a photo of a small House Wren - then I heard some bird calls I had never heard before and came across a bunch of these Yellow Headed Blackbirds.
Purple Pond - Melinda and I spent many summer nights down at Saint Vrain State Park fishing - one night I had my camera with me just as the sun was going down and the water was very still.
Stairs and Windows - While Melinda was taking a final, I wandered around campus taking photos. I was able to get inside Macky Auditorium and got this shot of the sun shining through the windows.
Flatirons in the Fall - I had been planning this shot for weeks, waiting for the right moment where the trees had turned yellow, the grass was still green, and there as a clear blue sky. I finally got it right before a snowstorm which caused the trees to lose most of their leaves.
Air Force Academy Chapel - I was down in Colorado Springs working on a video project when I stopped at the Academy to see if I could get a shot I had been thinking about inside the chapel.
Thanks to everyone who has visited and commented on my photoblog this year.
